Description
The Farmec 6 Foot Topper Mower is a heavy-duty rotary “topper” or pasture mower built by Farmec in New Zealand for farmland and lifestyle-block use.It is designed to be a rugged, no-nonsense machine capable of tackling thick grass, pasture, and rough vegetation, and is engineered for maximum longevity under demanding rural conditions. In terms of construction and build quality, the 6 Foot model features a pressed-steel body made of 5 mm plate, thicker than lighter duty toppers, which gives it the strength to handle harder cutting conditions. Able to make a 1.8-metre swath with each pass this Topper Mower is useful for covering large paddocks efficiently.
Power and drive are provided via a standard 1,500 mm end-to-end PTO (power take-off) shaft, with a robust gearbox rated for up to 75 hp (oil-bathed as standard), which gives the topper enough muscle to handle heavy or thick vegetation. When it comes to flexibility of cut, the topping height is adjustable from approximately 25 mm to 125 mm, allowing the operator to choose cutting height depending on the pasture or ground conditions.
The topper rides on pressed skids. 5 mm pressed skids reinforced with 3 stiffeners and a 10 mm wear strip, a design aimed at reducing wear when working over rough or uneven terrain. Farmec markets the 6 Foot Topper as a long-lasting, heavy duty mower, designed to last decades, built to withstand whatever is thrown at it, making it suitable for intensive farm use or even hire-out contracting work.
