Servicing the central Southland district, L J Contracting runs a twelve man team looking after farm effluent pond compliance, cleaning, desludging, as well as a baling and cultivation crew.
Company owner, Jim Cooper, says "we started out in 2012 running a slurry tanker and added two Keenan Orbital Muck Spreaders to the mix about six years ago now."
"With the changes in effluent management compliance in recent years, farmers having to carry out regular effluent pond cleaning, desludging and maintenance has never been so important. Now having three Keenan Muck Spreaders in the fleet I can honestly say these are amazing machines. I've tried other brands and models over the years but just didn't like them. The Keenan spreaders are incredibly well sealed, quick and easy to load and unload and ultimately very reliable."
"Unlike other brands, I like that fact everything unloads to the left-hand side and there are less moving parts. The internal ram unit pushes all waste material and sludge forward ensuring a short emptying time, consistent application rates and an even weight distribution for traction on the tractor unit at all times. The spreaders are very solid and built with only a few bearings and all chains running through an oil bath resulting in very minimal maintenance and upkeep."
If looking for arguably one of the best muck spreaders in the business, I don't think you can go past the Keenan Orbital unit."
